Two Arrested In Connection With Copper Thefts In Letcher And Perry County

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On June 01, 2011 at Approximately 12:00 p.m Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard arrested two perpetrators in connection with numerous copper thefts in the Letcher and Perry County area.
Preliminary investigation led police to a scrap yard in Letcher County which had received over two tons of copper from three individuals. James D. Warren age 54 from Blackey, Ky. and Preston Halcomb Jr. age 22 also from Blackey were arrested and lodged in the Letcher County Dentention Center charged with Receiving Stolen Property Over $500. Arrest warrants have been issued and a third perpetrator is pending arrest at this time. Additional charges are possible in Letcher and Perry Counties pending presentation of the investigation to grand juries. The investigation is continuing by Det. Joel Abner and Det. Billy Pollard.
