Letcher County mother arrested after leaving 2 month old inside car

(Hazard, Ky.) -- A 24 year old Letcher County mother has been arrested after allegedly leaving her two month old infant inside an unattended vehicle. Trooper Brandon Thomas was patrolling the Whitesburg Plaza Shopping Center when he was alerted by a citizen who heard the infant crying inside a Chevrolet Cavalier. Trooper Thomas arrested Nancy M. Castle, age 24 of Jackhorn, KY who had gone into an Appalachian Wireless store to purchase a cell phone. The child was taken into the custody of the Department of Social Services.

Nancy M. castle was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree & Endangering the Welfare of a Minor an indictment warrant was also served charging the female with several other unrelated felony charges. Nancy M. Castle is lodged in the Letcher County jail. Trooper Brandon Thomas is in charge of the investigation.
