Shelbyville Man Arrested For Impersonating a Peace Officer

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- On October 26, 2011, at around 11:00 P.M. Trooper Eddie Whitworth conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Shelbyville. Trooper Whitworth had observed a Chevrolet Pickup fail to stop at a stop sign at First Street and Henry Clay. The vehicle was being driven by Travis Beckley, 22 years old, of Shelbyville. During the traffic stop, Mr. Beckley stated that he was employed by the Shelby County Sheriff. He stated he was a Deputy and was currently being trained at the Department of Criminal Justice Training. Mr. Beckley was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and taken to the Shelby County Jail. He was charged for Reckless Driving, DUI 1st offense (AGG Circumstance), Disregarding a Stop Sign and Impersonating a Peace Officer.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Mr. Beckley was not employed by their agency.
