Kentucky State Police is Investigating an Officer Involved Shooting

(Frankfort, KY.) -- A Versailles woman has been charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer. On Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 8:56 PM the Versailles Police Department responded to an assault disturbance in Versailles. The officer responding to the complaint located the suspect Glenna J. Sutherland driving away from the scene. The Versailles Officer attempted to pull the suspect over but she refused to stop. The Versailles Officer followed the suspect into Scott County where the Scott County Sheriff Department attempted to stop the suspect and called in pursuit. She refused to stop and drove into downtown Georgetown. On Main Street the Georgetown Police, Scott County Sheriff's Office and the Versailles Police got the vehicle stopped. The suspect backed into a Versailles Police Department cruiser, put her vehicle into drive and attempted to run over a Scott County Sheriff's Deputy. The deputy fired one shot into the suspect's vehicle striking Glenna Sutherland. She drove away from the scene and drove to Georgetown Community Hospital. She was treated and transferred to the University of Kentucky Hospital. She has been lodged in the Scott County Detention Center after leaving the hospital against the doctor's advice. No other persons were injured in this incident. The Kentucky State Police Post 12 was requested to conduct the shooting investigation.

The Kentucky State Police Frankfort Post has charged Glenna J. Sutherland, age 57 of Versailles, KY with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer. She is also facing other criminal and traffic charges from other agencies involved in this incident. The Kentucky State Police Frankfort Post investigation is continuing.
