Update to the Kentucky State Police Investigating a Second Anderson County Shooting

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- Zachary S. Penwell age 30, of Lawrenceburg, KY., has been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Assault 1st, Theft by Unlawful Taking and Falsely Reporting an Incident. He made a 911 call to the Lawrenceburg Dispatch reporting a home invasion and that he had been shot and robbed. The Kentucky State Police investigation has revealed that Mr. Penwell staged his incident. The events he reported did not occur as he said they did. Mr. Penwell has been lodged in the Shelby County Detention Center. Investigation is ongoing by Post 12 Frankfort.

Kentucky State Police Investigating a Second Anderson County Shooting

Date of News Release: 07/12/2011

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- On Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 9:23 AM, the Lawrenceburg dispatch received at 911 call from a residence located on Saffell Street in Lawrenceburg, KY. The caller reported that someone had robbed and shot him.

The Lawrenceburg Police Department and the Anderson County EMS responded to the residence. A male age 30 was taken by the Anderson County EMS to the University of Kentucky Hospital. The subject was shot in the leg and the injuries are considered to be non-life threatening. The Kentucky State Police Frankfort Post was notified and asked to conduct the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

The Kentucky State Police Post 12 provided police coverage for Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Shelby, Spencer and Woodford counties. The Kentucky State Police is being assisted by the Lawrenceburg Police Department.
