Injury Collision Closes I-64 in Franklin County

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- The Kentucky Sate Police Frankfort Post is investigating an injury collision on I-64 at the 47.5 mile marker in Franklin County. The collision occurred at approximately 9:44 AM. The driver Craig Zoelzer, age 48 of Bedford IN., was westbound on I-64 when he lost control of his tractor and trailer and struck a guard rail on the westbound side of I-64. The vehicle traveled down an embankment and overturned. The driver was transported to the Franklin County Regional Medical Center by Franklin County EMS. The driver was wearing his seat belt. The tractor was loaded with large pieces of scrap medal from the Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond, KY.

Both lanes of I-64 westbound were closed for several hours and traffic was diverted at exit 48 from I-64. The Kentucky State Police were assisted by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Franklin County Fire and EMS.

The investigation is continuing by Kentucky State Police Post 12 Frankfort. Kentucky State Police Post 12 provides police coverage for Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Shelby, Spencer and Woodford counties.
