Ethington Auto Sales Investigation

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- In March of 2011 the Kentucky State Police, Post 12 Frankfort began an investigation into Ethington Auto Sales, LLC, a used motor vehicle dealer located in Shelby County, regarding illegal business practices that the dealer was involved in. On March 31, 2011 Troopers executed a search warrant on the business and seized a large volume of records, computers and one vehicle from the business.
As a result of the investigation the State Police have filed 106 charges against Donnie Ethington and William T. Ledford who are the owners of Ethington Auto Sales, LLC. Mr. Ethington and Mr. Ledford are scheduled to appear in Shelby District court on May 10 to answer to the charges.
The following charges were filed: 2 counts of Selling or receiving a vehicle w/ removed or altered VIN number, Class D Felony; 2 counts Obscuring the identity of a machine u/500, Class A Misdemeanor; 22 counts Motor vehicle dealer required to give title to purchaser, Class A Misdemeanor; 76 counts Improper use of dealer Plates, Class A Misdemeanor, 2 counts Motor vehicle dealer required to notify clerk, Class A Misdemeanor and 2 counts of None/improper use of temporary tag when required, Class A misdemeanor.
The investigation still continues and more charges may be filed.
