Shelby County Collision Blocks I-64

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- Kentucky State Police are investigating an injury collision on westbound I-64, at the 38 mile marker in Shelby County. David Swindler was traveling west on I-64 in a 2008 Ford pickup when he started hydroplaning. Mr. Swindler lost control of his vehicle and struck a guard rail on the north side of I-64. Mr. Swindler's vehicle bounced off the guard rail and returned to I-64 into of Mark W. Uebelhor who was driving a 2004 Volvo tractor and trailer. The vehicles collide and Mr. Swindler's vehicle strikes the guard rail on the south side of I-64 coming to final rest in the earth rock median. Mr. Uebelhor was taken to the Jewish Shelbyville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. I-64 was closed for over four hours. Two of the three lanes of I-64 are now opened while automotive foam from the tractor and trailer is being cleaned up. The public should expect delays in this section of westbound I-64.
