Anderson County meth lab investigation

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- On Tuesday night, February 2, 2011 Kentucky State Police received an anonymous tip that led to the discovery of a meth lab and ingredients inside a trailer in Anderson County.

Troopers arrived at a trailer located on Beaver Lake Road in Lawrenceburg, KY. Inside the trailer one active meth lab was located and other meth lab ingredients were discovered. The Frankfort Post Clandestine Lab cleanup team dismantled the lab. There were no kids present in the trailer and no one was injured.

Kentucky State Police arrested Joseph G. Caldwell, age 48 of Lawrenceburg, KY. He was charged with Manufacturing Meth 1st, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is lodged in the Franklin County Detention Center. The investigation is continuing and other arrests are pending. The Kentucky State Police were assisted by the Anderson County Sheriff's Department and the Lawrenceburg PD.

In 2010 Kentucky had 1,078 Meth Lab responses statewide these responses increased by 45 % from 2009 to 2010. The clean up cost for those labs in 2010 was 2.9 million dollars. Anonymous drug tips can be reported by calling your local Kentucky State Police Post or by calling the 1-800-DOPE-TIP.
