Terroristic Threatening Investigation

Date of News Release: 11/09/11

(Whitley City, Ky.) -- At 11:52 a.m. Post 11 received a call advising a male subject armed with a firearm had threatened to kill a social services employee at the McCreary County Court House. Subject was in a vehicle in front of the court house after a hearing in which he had become disgruntled with the outcome. Numerous Kentucky State Police and Commerical Vehicle Enforcement Units responded. Subject had left the scene prior to their arrival. The court house and county schools were locked down. The suspect was identified as Rodney J. Staley, age 40, of Parkers Lake, Ky. An arrest warrant for Terroristic Threatening 3rd degree was obtained. Numerous locations were searched for the suspect by the Kentucky State Police and assisting agencies.

At 6:03 p.m., the Kentucky State Police located and arrested the suspect near Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Ky. The suspect is being transported to the McCreary County Detention Center at this time.
