Update to the Death Investigation in Rockcastle County

Date of News Release: 10/27/11

(LONDON, KY.) - The female victim of the crash has been identified as Hope Pierce, 25, of Maryville, TN, and the male subject from the domestic has been identified as Phillip Randy Meade II, 22, of Medora, IN. Although investigators would like to speak with Meade in reference to this incident he has not been located or talked to by investigators.

Anyone who witnessed either of the incidents (the original domestic incident or the traffic crash) is urged to contact the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, at 1-606-878-6622 or 1-800-222-5555.

No charges are expected to be filed, at this time.

Death Investigation in Rockcastle County

Date of News Release: 10/26/11

(LONDON, KY.) - On Wednesday October 26, 2011 at approximately 4:12 AM the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London received a report, from the Rockcastle County 911 Center, of a possible domestic incident in a vehicle on I-75 in Rockcastle County.

At approximately 4:27 AM the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London received a report, from the Rockcastle County 911 Center, that the Mount Vernon Police Department was on the scene of a vehicle traffic crash where a female pedestrian had been struck on I-75 and was deceased.

The female victim of the crash is believed to be the same female involved in the domestic and the exact relationship between the two incidents is under investigation. The male subject from the domestic was not at the scene and has not been identified at this time.

The identity of the victim is pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.

An autopsy will be scheduled and any alcohol and/or drug involvement is under investigation.

Detective Millard Root is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by officers of the Kentucky State Police, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Mount Vernon Police Department, the Rockcastle County Sheriff's Office, the Rockcastle County Coroner's Office and the Rockcastle County EMS.
