Methamphetamine Lab Arrest in Laurel County

(LONDON, KY.) –- On Saturday, September 17, 2011 at approximately 5:45 PM, the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a report of a possible Methamphetemine Lab on Pine Grove School Road in the Lily Community of Laurel County.
Upon arrival Trooper Jack Riley detected a strong chemical odor in the area of the residence and made contact with James E. Burkhart, 36, of London.
Further investigation discovered a one step Meth lab, a small amount of Methamphetemine, prescription medications that were not prescribed to Burkhart and not in proper containers and Meth precursors.
Burkhart was arrested and charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Meth), Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Unlawful Possession of Meth Precursors 1st Offense.
Also arrested at the scene was David H. Brannon, 45, of London charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Unlawful Possession of Meth Precursors 1st Offense and Persistent Felony Offender 1st.
Both were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Trooper Riley is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by Trooper Tracey Haynes and the Laurel County Department of Public Safety.
