Traffic Crash in Rockcastle County

Date of News Release: 08/29/11

(London, Ky.) -- On Monday August 29, 2011 at approximately 9:21 a.m. the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London received a report, from an off-duty KSP Trooper, of two (2) vehicles involved in what appeared to be a car chase on I-75 southbound in Rockcastle County.

That incident resulted in an injury traffic crash on US 461 in Rockcastle County and KSP Trooper Scottie Pennington was dispatched to respond.

As Trooper Pennington traveled westbound on US 150 he approached four vehicles that were also traveling westbound. Three of the four vehicles pulled to the right to yield to the emergency vehicle with the forth vehicle turning left into the passenger side of Trooper Pennington's police cruiser. That vehicle was operated by Lynnell Fields of Mount Vernon.

Both Trooper Pennington and Mrs. Fields were transported to the Rockcastle County Hospital for treatment their injuries.

Lieutenant Curtis O'Bannon is conducting the investigation into this crash and was assisted by Captain Matt Scott, Sergeant Tom Atkin and Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Mike Bowling.
