Theft Investigation and Arrest in Rockcastle County

(London, Ky.) -- On Friday June 17, 2011 at 8:45 AM the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Green Fish Road in northern Rockcastle County.
Trooper Lloyd Cochran was observing for the vehicle when the KSP Post received another call in reference to the suspicious vehicle, a black 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse being at the Super Test Hill Scrap Yard.
Trooper Cochran located the vehicle and discovered it to be a stolen vehicle from Madison County.
Further investigation led to the discovery of several stolen items in the vehicle.
Trooper Cochran arrested Nicholas J. Benny, 21, of Mount Vernon on the charges of one (1) count of Receiving Stolen Property under $10,000 (vehicle), two (2) counts of Theft by Unlawful Taking and one (1) count of Burglary 3rd Degree.
The of the stolen items were returned to the rightful owners.
Benny was lodged in the Rockcastle Detention Center.
Trooper Cochran is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by Detective Millard Root.
