Traffic Crash on I-75 in Rockcastle County

(London, Ky.) -- On Thursday March 03, 2011 at 8:38 AM officers from the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London and the KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Region 4, London responded to the scene of a single vehicle traffic crash, with injury, at the 71 mile marker southbound of Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County.

Upon arrival TFC Darren Allen determined that a white 2010, Kenworth, tractor/trailer, operated by Marvin Sizemore, 73, of Richmond, KY, was southbound on I-75 when, for some unknown reason, it exited the right side of the roadway, traveled up an embankment and then crossed the southbound lanes where it struck the center concrete divider.

Mr. Sizemore, who was wearing his seatbelt, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to the Berea Hospital before being transfer to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

No alcohol or drug usage suspected.

All lanes of I-75 are now back open.

TFC Allen is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by officers from the KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Rockcastle County Sheriff's Office, Mount Vernon Police Department, Mount Vernon Fire Department and the Rockcastle County EMS.

(London, Ky.) -- On Thursday March 03, 2011 at 8:38 AM officers from the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London and the KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Region 4, London responded to the scene of a single vehicle traffic crash, involving a tractor/trailer, at the 71 mile marker southbound of Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County.

Currently all lanes of Interstate 75, south and northbound, are closed due to the crash and traffic is being detoured to US 25 at Berea and Mount Vernon. The lane closures are expected to last several hours while the scene is cleaned up.
