Fatal ATV Collision on KY 3451 in Harlan County

(Dayhoit, Ky.) -- On 09/02/2011 at 6:19 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 10 in Harlan received a call of a single vehicle ATV collision on KY 3451 in the Dayhoit community of Harlan County. Trooper Jason Joseph responded to the scene and discovered that James Bryan Parker, 18, of Dayhoit, KY was operating a 1995 Honda ATV on KY 3451 when he lost control of the vehicle and went over an embankment causing the ATV to overturn. Mr. Parker was transported by Harlan EMS personnel to the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead by ER Physicians. Mr. Parker was not wearing a helmet. No alcohol was involved in this collision. The collision remains under investigation by Tpr. Joseph. He was assisted on scene by Tpr. Joshua Brashears.
