Harlan County Death Investigation

Date of News Release: 07/26/2011

(Blair, Ky.) -- On July 25, 2011 at 8:19 pm Post 10 received a 911 call that human remains were discovered by atv riders on an abandon strip mine site in the Blair community of Harlan County. The human remains were located approximately 1 1/2 miles off the roadway. At this time State Police are unable to identify the subject. The human remains will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Kentucky State Police Det. Edward Abner is in charge of the investigation. Also assisting at the scene were Post 10 Detectives, Troopers, Lynch Police Department, Benham Police Department and the Harlan County Coroner's Office.
