(Harlan, Ky.) -- On 02/20/2011 at 9:33 AM, Troopers Dallas Greer and Josh Brashears from KSP Post 10 in Harlan received an anonymous complaint of illegal drug activity at a residence located on 92 Back Row in the Pathfork Community of Harlan County. Units arrived on scene and conducted a Knock and Talk at the residence. When the occupant opened the door, a strong odor of Marijuana emitted from the residence. While observing the scene, Troopers noticed a male subject lying on a bed with a weapon beside him. Troopers entered the residence to secure the subject and the weapon. Upon initial investigation a large amount of marijuana, which appeared to have been freshly harvested, was found suspended from clothes lines in the room. After gaining consent to search from the owner of the residence, a thorough investigation was conducted and an elaborate indoor grow operation was discovered in an upstairs structure attached to the rear of the residence. The estimated street value of the Marijuana confiscated is about $6000.00 (Six Thousand Dollars). William J. Morgan, age 48, of Pathfork was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Marijuana 8 oz to five pounds (Class D Felony), Cultivating Marijuana five plants or more (Class D Felony), Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon (Class D Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession/Use of Radio that Sends or Receives Police Messages.
