Two injured in a two vehicle collision on KY172

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On October 22, 2010, at 1730 hours Kentucky State Police Morehead received a call from Morgan County Emergency Dispatch to respond to a two vehicle injury accident on KY172 in Morgan County. Trooper Josh Lawson and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Daniel Abner responded to the accident. Elizabeth Rayburn was traveling westbound on KY172 in a 1997 Lexus passenger car. Ms. Rayburn became distracted by her child in the back seat. She veered into the eastbound lane. Christopher Adams was driving in the eastbound lane of KY172 in a 1999 Kenworth dump truck. Mr. Adams was hauling gravel. Both vehicles hit head on. The Kenworth overturned on KY172 before coming to final rest in the eastbound lane. Ms. Rayburn&s vehicle came to final rest in the eastbound lane. Ms. Rayburn and the juvenile passenger were extricated from the vehicle by Morgan County Rescue Squad. The juvenile was transported to Morgan County ARH. The juvenile was treated and released. Ms. Rayburn was transported by helicopter to Cabell-Huntington Medical Center in Hunting, West Virginia. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Josh Lawson.
