Death Investigation in Bath County

Date of News Release: 09/06/2010

(Morehead, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police Post 8 in Morehead was contacted at 1046 hours by Bath County dispatch and advised that Floyd Ritchie had found his son deceased at 628 Old Midland Trail in Salt Lick, Ky. Trooper Nathan Shortridge, Bath County Sherriff Deputies, and Bath County EMS responded to the scene. Trooper Shortridge located 38 year old Jeffery Ritchie deceased from an apparent drug overdose. Jeffery Ritchie was pronounced deceased by Bath County Coroner Robbie Powell on scene at 1115 hours. Family was notified on scene. No foul play is suspected at this time. Blood toxicology and autopsy are pending at this time. The death investigation remains under investigation by Trooper Nathan Shortridge.
