Date of News Release: 08/20/2010

(Morehead, Ky.) -- A Bath County woman and her 2 year old son are deceased following a head on collision with a FedEx truck on the KY32 Bypass this afternoon in Flemingsburg, KY. Wendy Dunaway was operating a 1999 Dodge pickup truck westbound on KY32 when she began to veer into the westbound lane of travel occupied by Stacy Rice, driver of FedEx delivery truck. Mr. Rice attempted to avoid collision by moving as far onto the shoulder as possible, however Ms. Dunaway's truck continued veering off the roadway onto the shoulder as well and both vehicles struck head on. Ms. Dunaway was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Fleming County Coroner. Her son, Donovan Kelly, was transported to Fleming County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Mr. Rice was admitted to Fleming County Hospital overnight for observation. No seat belts (or child restraints) were in use. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Chad Bowling of the Kentucky State Police Post 8 in Morehead.
