A Morgan County Woman Arrested and Charged with Murder

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On June 14, 2010 Brittany Williams was arrested on June 13, 2010 and charged with murder. Williams is lodged in the Big Sandy Detention Center in Paintsville. Further charges against possibly could follow after case is presented the the Morgan County Grand Jury.
On May 31, 2010, Brittany D. Williams of West Liberty was operating a 1998 Chevy Lumina south on Ky.7 when she crossed the center line striking a 2004 Chevy Cavalier operated by Gerry N. Blackwell of West Liberty. As a result of the collision Ms. Blackwell sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Kenny Perry at 2200 hours. A passenger in Ms. Blackwell's vehicle also sustained serious injuries. Ms. Williams was transported to Morgan County A.R.H. in West Liberty and later transferred to the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. Next of kin was notified by Morgan County Coroner Kenny Perry. An autopsy is scheduled at the State Medical Examiners Office in Frankfort. Drugs are believed to be a contributing factor in the accident and criminal charges are pending. The accident remains under investigation by Detective Toby Gardner.
