Post 8 Trooper Island Golf Scramble

Date of News Release: 06/03/2010

(Morehead, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police Post 8 in Morehead, KY will be hosting their annual Trooper Island Golf Scramble on June 17, 2010. It will begin at 9:00 AM at the Old Silo Golf Course in Mt. Sterling, KY. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams as well as for the longest drive and closest to the pin.

Each KSP Post hosts a Golf Scramble to try to raise funds for the Kentucky State Police Trooper Island Camp. The camp is located on Dale Hollow Lake and it operates solely on donations and charity. The camp was established to give Kentucky children that are otherwise unable to afford a summer camp, the chance to attend a fun, exciting week of camp hosted by the Kentucky State Police. Each year, every Post selects children from their area eligible to attend the camp. There are State Troopers and civilian personnel that volunteer to accompany the children to and from camp as well as stay with them during their week of camp. They are also met by summer camp counselors that have already created a schedule of events and classes for them to make their week more excitable. While at camp they learn fishing, computers, canoeing, swimming, archery, crafts and nature as well as basic social skills and discipline. We have some children that enjoy returning the following year! There have also been many campers that were so impressed with our camp that they themselves decided to pursue a career as a Kentucky State Trooper.

With entering in this tournament ($260 per team), you can help us help Kentucky's children have a wonderful week at a camp that benefits them in so many ways. They have the opportunity to meet the Kentucky State Troopers and personnel in a different environment and leave appreciating the opportunity that has been given to them. Entry forms are available at Post 8, 1595 Flemingsburg road.
