Motorcyclist Killed In Two Vehicle Collisions
Date of News Release: 10/14/2010
(Crab Orchard, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision involving two vehicles that occurred on US 150, two miles east of Crab Orchard. On Wednesday, October 13 at 9:05 p.m., the Kentucky State Police, East End Ambulance Service, and Lincoln County Fire Departments #6 and #8, responded to the report of a two vehicle collision with injuries on US 150. According to investigators, Bert King- age 41, of Mt. Vernon, Ky., was operating a Toyota Sequoia and stopped at the intersection of Singleton Road and US 150. Mr. King merged onto US 150 East and struck a westbound Harley Davidson motorcycle being operated by Jackie Haga-age 54, of Bristol, Tn. After impact, both vehicles left the roadway and traveled down an embankment. Mr. Haga was transported to Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, where he was pronounced dead by Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum. There were no reported injuries to the six occupants of the Mr. King vehicle. Alcohol or illegal drug use does not appear to be a contributing factor, however low visibility due to rain fall may have played a role in the collision. Mr. Haga was wearing an approved helmet. The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Eric Taylor.
