Date of News Release: 09/09/2010

(Lancaster, Ky.)-- The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is investigating a three-vehicle collision that occurred on Sugar Creek Road on 9/8/2010 at approximately 8:45 a.m. According to investigators, a 1987 Kenworth dump truck being operated by Matthew Stinnett- age 34, was traveling down a steep grade when he attempted to slow down and stop his vehicle. Stinnett could not stop his vehicle before striking a blacktop paver being operated by Jeff Brock- age 46. Brock and his passenger, Anthony Reed-age 34, were both ejected from the vehicle. After impact, the Stinnett vehicle then rolled over and struck a second blacktop paver operated by Jeremy Dixon-age 29. Stinnett suffered several possible broken bones, and is listed in stable condition at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Brock sustained internal injuries and head trauma. He is listed in stable condition at UK Medical Center. Reed was treated and released by UK Medical Center. Unsafe speed, road conditions, and driver unfamiliarity with the roadway, are possible contributing factors in this collision. The dump truck is owned and operated by Cumberland Trucking of Nicholasville. Both blacktop pavers are owned by The Allen company. The collision remains under investigation by KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Matthew Hutti.
