Update to the One Killed in a Vehicle Collision on KY 1016

(Berea, Ky.)-- The victim in this fatal collision has been identified as Joshua R. Knuckles, age 22 of Calico Road, Berea. Next-of-kin have been notified.

Date of News Release: 03/31/2010

(Berea, Ky.)-- Kentucky State Police Post 7, Richmond , are investigating a fatal collision that occurred East of Berea on KY 1016 at 6:39 a.m. this date. Mary J. Napier, age 35 of Berea, was traveling westbound on KY 1016 when a Dodge Neon traveling in the opposite direction crossed over into her lane of travel. The vehicles collided, and investigators believe the driver of the Dodge Neon was ejected from the vehicle. The ejected driver was then struck by another eastbound vehicle being operated by Jennifer L. McCracken, age 40 of Berea. The ejected driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison County Deputy Coroner Carlos Coyle. Ms. Napier was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital in Berea, where she is being treated for a leg injury. Ms. McCracken was not injured. The deceased was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office, where an autopsy will be conducted. The name of the victim will be released when next of kin have been notified. The collision remains under investigation by KSP Accident Reconstructionists.
