Jackson County Robbery Investigation

Date of News Release: 03/23/2010

(McKee, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police Post 7 Richmond is currently investigating a residential robbery that occurred on Wilder Ridge Road in Jackson County. On Tuesday, March 22nd at 8:37 a.m. Jackson County 911 received a call from a neighbor of Robert Witt of 20 Wilder Road. The caller stated that he found Witt, age 63, tied up outside the residence after an apparent robbery. A Kentucky State Trooper and a Jackson County Deputy responded to the scene. Witt told investigators that he left his home early Tuesday morning to run an errand in Kingston. He returned to his residence shortly after 8:00 a.m. and found two white males inside his residence. They were in the act of burglarizing his home. One of the perpetrators held a handgun to his head and forced him into a back bedroom, where they tied him up. The perpetrators then obtained the keys to Witt's car, and fled the scene in it. Witt was able to struggle outside, where his neighbor found him a short time later. The neighbor then contacted authorities. The perpetrators are described as two white males. One was armed with a handgun and wearing blue jean pants and a blue jean jacket. The public is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police if they have any information concerning this incident or the whereabouts of Witt's vehicle. The vehicle is a 1999 four-door Saturn, maroon in color, bearing Kentucky registration plate 005-CLY. The Kentucky State Police may be reached at 1-800-222-555 or (859) 623-2404. The investigation by Detective Brian Reeder continues.
