Madison County Collision With Injuries

(Kingston, KY)-- Kentucky State Police Post 7, Richmond is currently investigating a single-vehicle collision with injuries that involved a Kentucky State Trooper assigned to the Richmond Post. The collision occurred at 2:10 p.m. on US 421 in the Madison County community of Kingston. Trooper Toney Allen, age 42 of Berea, was traveling north on US 421 when he apparently lost control of his police vehicle and left the travelled portion of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree on the northbound shoulder of the roadway. Trooper Allen was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Berea where he is being treated for a leg injury. Trooper Allen was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. KSP Accident Recontructionists responded to the scene, and will be conducting the investigation. Trooper Allen was off-duty at the time and was not involved in any enforcement activity prior to the collision. The investigation by Sergeant Starlin Hacker and Detective Chris Short continues.
