Explosive Device Investigation in the Port Royal Community

(Campbellsburg, Ky.) -- January 19, 2010 at 9:31 p.m. Troopers from Post 5 Campbellsburg responded to an apparent explosion in Henry County at 10768 Maddox Ridge Road in the Port Royal community. Upon arrival, troopers discovered a female with minor injuries from a reported explosive device. The victim told troopers that unknown person(s) had placed three traffic cones at the end of her driveway on Monday January 18, 2009. She removed two of the cones from the driveway Monday and when she went to move the third cone on Tuesday, an apparent explosive device placed inside detonated when she lifted the cone. The victim was identified as Clarissa Tackett (step-daughter) 21 yrs old who lives at the residence which is owned by Phil Brierly. Ms. Tackett was transported by family members to an Urgent Care center where she was treated and released.
The Kentucky State Police Hazardous Devices unit along with the KSP canine section searched the premises and did not locate any other explosive devices.
The ATF was notified and is currently investigating the incident.
