One Killed in a Two Vehicle Collision on I-65

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On 10/20/10 at 09:46 a.m. Kentucky State Police Post 4 received a report of an injury near the 95 mile marker of I-65. Upon arrival units found a 2002 Jeep Liberty operated by Mendle R. Hester, was southbound on I-65 in the left lane. A 2003 Cadillac Deville operated by Joseph P. Spradley of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, was southbound on I-65 in the center lane. Mr. Hester began to pass to Mr. Spradley, when for an unknown reason Mr. Hester side-swiped Mr. Spradley. Mr. Hester then proceeded to cross all three lanes of traffic, exited the roadway on the right shoulder, and overturned several times. Mr. Hester, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hardin County Coroners Office.
