One Killed in a Single Vehicle Collision on US60

Date of News Release: 09/20/2010

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On September 19, 2010, at 1:02 am Eastern Time, the Elizabethtown Kentucky State Police Post received a report of a serious, single-vehicle accident on US60, just east of the KY428 intersection. Trooper Adam Hutchison was dispatched to the scene and investigated the accident. Trooper Hutchison reported that a 2006 Nissan Maxima, operated by Kevin L Anderson (age 49 of Guston, KY), was traveling westbound on US60, as it neared the KY428 intersection. For unknown reasons, Anderson lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the right shoulder and struck a rock wall. After striking the rock wall, the vehicle began overturning, crossed US60, and struck a rock wall along the left shoulder of the road. Anderson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. Anderson suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to University of Louisville Hospital, by Air Methods Air Transport. Anderson was later pronounced dead by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. Trooper Hutchison has listed excessive speed as a contributing factor in the accident.
