Two Injured in a Two Vehicle Collision on KY245

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- At approximately 1542 hours on 08/25/2010, the Kentucky State Police in Elizabethtown were called to respond to an injury accident on KY245 near the Jim Beam Distillery. Trooper Rodger Waters and Trooper Eric Hines are investigating the accident. Trooper Waters reported that a 1999 Dodge van, operated by a Rena Sallengs, 55, of Bardstown, KY was traveling Northbound on KY245 when, for unknown reasons, veered into the Southbound lane and struck a 2006 Ford passenger car, operated by a Nancy Saunders, 50; of Cox's Creek, KY. Both drivers were entrapped in the vehicles and were removed by Southeast Bullitt County Fire Department and were transported to UofL hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries by Bullitt County EMS. Troopers Waters and Hines were assisted by the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office, Bullitt County EMS, and Southeast Bullitt County Fire Department.
