Two injured in a motorcycle collision on KY 144

Date of News Release: 05/23/2010

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- At approximately 1220 hours EST, Randall Hendricks (42 years old Hawesville, KY) was operating a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle east bound on KY 144. Sherra Hendricks (49 years old Hawesville, KY) was a passenger on the motorcycle. Neither occupant of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet. The Hendricks were in the rear of a group of motorcycles traveling east on KY 144 that were going to turn right onto Flood Road. Hendricks apparently was not aware that the motorcycles in front of him were slowing to turn right onto Flood Road which caused Hendricks to apply his brakes and skid. Hendricks motorcycle fell over on its left side throwing both of the Hendricks off the motorcycle. Randall Hendricks sustained chest and arm injuries but he declined transport to the hospital by ambulance. Sherra Hendricks sustained serious head and chest injuries. She was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital by Air Methods Air Ambulance Helicopter. Trooper Curtis Mouser KSP Post 4 investigated the accident. Cloverport Fire and Rescue, Breckinridge Central Ambulance, and Air Methods Helicopter assisted.
