Two Injured in a Three Vehicle Collision on KY54

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- A 1994 Dodge Ram pickup, operated by a James Downs of New Haven, Kentucky was westbound on KY54 near Green Valley, Kentucky. A 1990 Honda, operated by a David Parker Jr, of Leitchfield, Kentucky was eastbound on KY54. Mr. Downs vehicle, for unknown reasons, made an abrupt left turn into the path of Mr. Parker's vehicle. Mr. Parker attempted to avoid hitting Mr. Downs, but was not successful. A 2005 Nissan, operated by Tami Salmon of Falls of Rough, Kentucky was eastbound behind Mr. Parker's vehicle and attempted to avoid the first collision but struck Mr. Parker's vehicle in the rear end. Mr. Parker and a passenger in Mr. Downs vehicle were transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical center and Mr. Parker was later flown to University of Louisville by Air Methods. No charges expected to be filed. The investigation is ongoing by Trooper D. Norris with the Kentucky State Police. Grayson County Sheriff's office, Leitchfield Fire Department, and Grayson County EMS responded to the scene as well.
