Leitchfield Shooting Investigation

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On Friday, March 5, at approximately 10:15 CST, a report was made to a Leitchfield Police Officer, by emergency medical personnel, at the Shell gas station, on South Main street, that there was a male subject at the end of the building displaying a rifle. The officer, Brandon Brooks, drove around to the rear of the store, and commanded the subject to put down the weapon. At that time the subject starting firing at the officer. Two additional officers arrived on scene, Sgt. Jack Holland, and Officer Brandon Cook. The subject starting firing upon these officers also. The officers fired upon the subject, striking him and incapacitating him. The subject was removed from the scene by ambulance to Twin Lakes Hospital, then transferred to University Hospital by Stat-Flight where he was pronounced dead. The deceased, is Brandon C. Green, W/M, 31 yoa, of Caneyville, KY. An autopsy was performed at the medical examiners office, this morning (03/06/2010). Two of the officers in the shooting , Sgt. Jack Holland, and Officer Brandon Cook, received minor injuries, which they received treatment for at the hospital and were released. A death investigation by the Kentucky State Police is ongoing.
