Four injured in a two vehicle collision on US31W

Date of News Release: 11/20/2010

(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- Brian Proffitt was traveling southbound on US31W. Paul Mollitor was traveling northbound on US31W. For reasons unknown, Mr. Proffitt's vehicle veered off of the north shoulder of the roadway, overcorrected, entered the southbound lane, and overcorrected again. Mr. Proffitt's vehicle then went into a yaw skid and collided with Mr. Mollitor's vehicle in the northbound lane. Mr. Proffitt's vehicle came to final rest facing northwest and subsequently caught fire. Mr. Proffitt and passenger (Darlya Goad) were transported by Air Methods to the University of Louisville Hospital and are listed in critical condition. Mr. Mollitor's vehicle came to final rest on the northbound shoulder facing north. Mr. Mollitor and passenger (Carole Butler) were transported by EMS to Caverna Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
