Criminal Arrest in Hart County

Date of News Release: 11/03/2010

(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- Vehicles were traveling northbound on I-65 when an incident of road rage occurred between both parties. The right front of Mr. Robert Metcalf's vehicle impacted the left rear of Mr. Herbert Copeland's vehicle at which time, Mr. Metcalf brandished a weapon and fired one round into Mr. Copeland's driver side door almost striking Mr. Copeland. Mr. Copeland was not injured during the incident. Mr. Copeland yielded to Mr. Metcalf and let him pass. Mr. Copeland then contacted KSP Bowling Green giving description of the vehicle and followed Mr. Metcalf. KSP Post 3 notified Post 4 to observe for the run vehicle near exit 76. Detective Vaughn with KSP Post 4 located Mr. Metcalf in a gas station parking lot in Upton. Mr. Metcalf was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Hart County Detention Center. Mr. Metcalf was charged with Attempted Murder, Tampering with physical evidence, and Criminal Mischief 1st, investigation is ongoing.
