Fatal Collision on I-65 in Barren County

(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- All involved units traveled northbound on I65 near the 51 mile marker. Michael B Sherman was stopped in the left lane of travel due to an uninvolved collision which blocked both lanes ahead. Lashawn A McRae, Sheila Quinn, and Christopher Bussert traveled directly behind Michael B Sherman in the left travel lane. Lashawn A McRae struck the right rear trailer of Michael B Sherman. Sheila Quinn struck the rear of Michael B Sherman. Christopher Bussert approached and began to merge into the right travel lane, striking the rear of Sheila Quinn. Christopher Bussert completed the lane change striking John Schuitema, which traveled in the right lane, in a sideswipe manner. Anthony Seiber traveled behind John Schuitema and began to decelerate. Larry J Allen approached Anthony Seiber from behind and struck Anthony Seiber in a rear end manner. Lashawn A McRae was declared deceased at the scene by the Barren County Coroner. A passenger (Sarah Quinn) of Sheila Quinn was transported to the Bowling Green Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. Anthony Seiber and three passengers of unit six were transported to TJ Sampson Hospital for treatment of possible injuries. At the time of the collision, there was heavy rainfall with limited visibility.
