Pursuit Through 5 Counties End with an Arrest

(Bowling Green, KY) -- On Friday, 03-12-2010, Elizabethtown Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a Black 1984 Ford Bronco when the driver failed to stop. Elizabethtown Police Department, KSP Post 4, and Hardin County Sheriff's Office pursued the violator through Hardin and Larue County going south on I-65. Upon entering Hart County, they requested assistance from KSP Post 3. KSP units as well as Munfordville Police Department joined in the pursuit which went through Hart County and into Barren County. The violator exited off of I-65 at Cave City going east on KY 70. The violator traveled KY 70 through Barren County and into Metcalfe County. The violator turned off on KY 70 to go west on U.S. 68. From there, the violator turned onto Jimmy Hubbard Road and had a collision at the end of the roadway. There, the driver fled on foot and was apprehended after a brief struggle with police units. The driver was 34 year old Ollie Campbell of Edmonton. During this 68 miles of pursuit, Mr. Campbell maintained a speed of 100 mph while on I-65 and exceeded speeds up to 85 mph while on KY 70. Mr. Campbell was arrested and transported to Hardin County Detention Center where he was lodged. The investigation is ongoing, and there are several charges still pending through the five involved counties.
