Arson Investigation Results in Arrests

(Bowling Green, KY) -- After an eight month investigation, Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator David West was able to charge two Morgantown men regarding the fire that occurred at Hometown IGA on G.L. Smith Street in Morgantown, KY. The fire occurred on April 23, 2009, at approximately 2:20 am and the amount of loss (building and contents) was $800,000.

Arrested and charged with Arson 2nd were John Michael Haynes, 19, of Morgantown, and Cody Lloyd, 19, of Morgantown. Haynes and Lloyd plead guilty to Arson 2nd on January 13, 2010, and are out on bond, awaiting formal sentencing.

Also assisting in this investigation was Tpr. Darren Phelps and the Kentucky State Fire Marshall's Office.
