Injury Collision on KY 70 in Muhlenberg County

Date of News Release: 11/10/2010

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Mary C. Smith, age 46 of Drakesboro, KY, was operating a 1994 Buick westbound on KY 70 approximately 8 miles east of Browder when she glanced away for a moment. The vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Ms. Smith overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed both lanes of travel and exited off the left shoulder of the roadway. It overturned and came to rest on its top in a ditch. Ms. Smith and her passengers, Deborah Whitfield, age 50 of Drakesboro, KY, and Trinity Wilson, age 2 of Drakesboro, KY, were transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Ms. Smith and Ms. Whitfield were wearing seat belts. Trinity Wilson was restrained in a child, safety seat. Trooper Ryan Fox investigated the crash the occurred on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 11:21 a.m. Trooper Craig Engler, the Beechmont Volunteer Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
