Two Killed and Two Injured in a Vehicle Collision on KY 171

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Jackie Lyons was traveling southbound on KY 171. Molly K. Littlefield was traveling northbound on KY 171. Johnny Lanier was traveling northbound on KY 171 behind Ms. Molly Littlefield. Mr. Lyon's lost control of his vehicle and traveled into Ms. Molly Littlefield's and Mr. Lanier's lane. Mr. Lyon's struck Ms. Molly Littlefield's vehicle in a head on collision in the northbound lane of KY 171. Mr. Lyon's vehicle traveled off the roadway and went down a hill, where it came to final rest. Ms. Molly Littlefield's vehicle came to final rest eastbound in the center of the roadway. As a result, Mr. Lanier could not avoid Ms. Molly Littlefield's vehicle and struck her passenger side front fender. Mr. Lanier's vehicle came to final rest northbound in the center of the roadway. Ms. Molly Littlefield's grandmother, Kathern Lucas, was sitting in the passenger side front seat. Kathern Lucas was pronounced dead at the scene by the Muhlenberg County Coroner's Office. Ms. Molly Littlefield's mother, Patricia Littlefield, was sitting in the passenger's side rear seat. Patricia Littlefield was transported by ambulance to Muhlenberg Community Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by the Muhlenberg County Coroner's Office. Ms. Molly Littlefield and Mr. Lyons were also transported by ambulance to Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Mr. Lanier did not sustain any injuries from the collision. All subjects involved in the accident were wearing seat belts.
