Two Injured in a Two Vehicle Collision on US 641

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Roger D. Steward, age 62 of Marion, KY, was operating a 1994 Ford Ranger northbound on US 641. Joy C. Briley, age 64 of Marion, KY, was operating a 2005 Lexus RX330 SUV southbound on US 641. As Mr. Steward was traveling northbound, he noticed that a vehicle in front of him was stopped to make a left turn into a driveway. Mr. Steward applied his brakes and lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle traveled into the southbound lane where it collided with Ms. Briley's vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway. Mr. Steward, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported via ambulance to the Crittenden County Hospital where he was admitted. Ms. Briley, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to the Crittenden County Hospital by a private vehicle where she was treated and released. Trooper First Class Darron Holliman investigated the crash that occurred on Friday, September 10, 2010 at approximately 9:05 a.m. The Crittenden County Sheriff's Department, Crittenden County Rescue Squad, Crittenden County EMS, and Caldwell County EMS assisted at the scene.
