Date of News Release: 06/20/2010

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Mrs. Tammy Warren had pulled over onto the right shoulder of the roadway to read a map. Mr. Byron E. Nuss Jr, for an unknown reason, traveled off of the roadway onto the right shoulder and struck Mrs. Warren's vehicle. Mrs. Warren's vehicle was knocked down an earth embankment where it came to final rest. Mr. Nuss's tractor trailer also traveled down the embankment, causing it to overturn. It took rescue members approximately one hour to extricate Mr. Nuss from the vehicle before he could be transported to the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, where he died as a result of his injuries. Mrs. Warren, and her passenger Matt Warren, were also transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center, where they were treated for their injuries. The collision is still under investigation by Trooper Bob Winters.
