Two Killed in a Two Vehicle Collision on the Western KY Parkway

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Saturday, June 19, 2010, at approximately 0016 hours, Kentucky State Police was notified of a two vehicle collision on the Western Kentucky Parkway at the 48 mile marker. Mr. Eric Brumett, age 21, of Jeffersonville, IN, was operating his 2007 Honda Civic traveling west. For an unknown reason, Mr. Brumett's vehicle exited the left side of the roadway causing his vehicle to enter the median. The vehicle continued into oncoming eastbound traffic, overturned and struck a 2002 Ford F150 driven by Mr. Ferrel Christmas, age 68, of Central City, KY. Mr. Christmas was transported from the scene to Muhlenberg County Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries he sustained in the collision. Mr. Brumett was flown by PHI to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, IN for his injuries. Mr. Sam Kolter, a passenger in Mr. Brumett's, vehicle was flown by Air Evac to Deaconess Medical Center in Evansville, IN. Mr. Corey Harper, another passenger in Mr. Brumett's vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Muhlenberg County Coroner. Eastbound land was close for approximately 5 hours and is now reopened.
