Felony Drug Arrest in Christian County
Date of News Release: 03/08/2010
(Madisonville, KY) - On Monday, March 08, 2010, at approximately 12:39 p.m., Trooper Mark Franklin conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 Ford Expedition operated by James T. Mitchell, age 26 of Hopkinsville, KY, for speeding on Shaw Ovil Road east of Fearsville. Upon approaching the vehicle, Trooper Franklin detected the odor of marijuana and a strong chemical odor coming from it. A search of the vehicle revealed ether and several other items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine. Suspected methamphetamine in individual bags and scales were also found in the vehicle.
Mr. James Mitchell, age 26 of Hopkinsville, KY was charged with:
- Speeding
- No Insurance
- Possession Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense-Meth
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 1st Offense
- Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense
- Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense
Mr. James Mitchell's passenger, Charles E. Daniels, age 23 of Hopkinsville, KY was charged with:
- Possession Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense-Meth
- Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense
- Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense
Both men were lodged in the Christian County Detention Center. Trooper Mark Combs assisted Trooper Franklin.
