Four Injured in a Two Vehicle Collision on US 68

Date of News Release: 01/08/2010

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Jesse Sumner, age 73 of Hopkinsville, KY, was operating a 2008 Ford F150 westbound on US 68. Mr. Sumner was attempting to make a left turn onto Lester Road. Dion Thompson, age 32 of Cadiz, KY, was operating a 1986 Ford LTD eastbound on US 68. It appears that Mr. Sumner turned into the path of Mr. Thompson and the two vehicles collided at the intersection. Mr. Sumner was transported by ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. Dion Thompson and his passengers, Egenia Baker, age 31 of Cadiz, KY and Emmonie Wilson, age 7 of Cadiz, KY, were transported by ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. KSP CVE Officer Larry Johnston investigated the crash that occurred on January 8, 2010 at approximately 8:10 a.m. The Christian County Sheriff's Department, Gracey Volunteer Fire Department, Christian County Rescue, and Hopkinsville/Christian County Fire & EMS assisted at the scene.
