Four Injured in a Two Vehicle Collision on US 431

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Rebecca Lehman, age 61 of Central City, Ky., was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Impala southbound on US 431 when she came to an abrupt stop in the roadway. David Mitchell, age 41 of Greenville, Ky., was operating a 2009 Kenworth tractor-trailer southbound on US 431 behind Ms. Lehman's vehicle. The tractor-trailer was empty. Mr. Mitchell swerved in an effort to avoid Ms. Lehman's vehicle; however, the tractor-trailer still struck the Impala. Ms. Lehman was transported by a private vehicle to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. A passenger of hers, Nickalus Frey, age 30 of Owensboro, Ky., was transported by ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Ms. Lehman's other passenger, Angela Frey, age 34 of Sacramento, Ky., did not report any injuries at the scene. Mr. Mitchell sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene, but not transported. Trooper Jerrod Hearld investigated the crash that occurred on January 4, 2010 at 9:39 a.m. KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Central City Fire Department and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
