KSP Post 1 Graduates Second Citizen's Police Academy

(Grand Rivers, Ky.) - On Monday, November 29th, Kentucky State Police in Mayfield graduated its second Citizen's Police Academy. A graduation ceremony and banquet was held at Patti's 1880's Settlement in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. Eighteen citizens from across western Kentucky completed the academy which included in depth discussions of the day to day operations of the Kentucky State Police. The academy began on September 27th at the State Police post in Hickory. The remainder of the academy was held at the Marshall County Cooperative Extension Office in Benton. Participants took part in traffic stop scenarios, learned about crime scene investigation, and were immersed in specific disciplines of the Kentucky State Police. Graduates are currently taking part in a ride-a-long with a trooper during a shift. The 18 graduates represented communities in Caldwell, Calloway, Graves, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, and Trigg Counties. Each Kentucky State Police post conducts a Citizen's Police Academy each year. Kentucky State Police in Mayfield plan on beginning its third installment of the academy in the fall of 2011.
