(Hickory, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Troopers are currently taking part in the Click It or Ticket highway safety initiative. Monday marked the beginning of a two-week national safety campaign which targets unrestrained motorists. Studies indicate that seatbelts and child restraints save lives, which is why Kentucky State Police will be citing drivers who arenít restrained. Mid November marks the beginning of a series of holidays which send Kentucky motorists traveling to family destinations for holiday celebrations. As traffic volume increases, the probability also increases for a motorist to be involved in a traffic collision.

It is the goal of the Kentucky State Police to reduce injury and fatality collisions by enforcing Kentuckyís primary seatbelt law. Troopers will also be observant for reckless and drunk drivers as well as drivers who are distracted by personal communication devices. All drivers are reminded to put down the cell phone and focus on the road while traveling.

The Click It or Ticket campaign encompasses the Thanksgiving holiday which officially begins on November 24th. In order to prevent needless loss of life on Kentucky roadways this holiday season, Kentucky State Police will continue to aggressively enforce Kentucky traffic laws which are aimed at protecting human life and allow for all travelers to arrive at their destination safely.
